Every Sunday, the church conducts children’s catechesis and moral virtue growth activities:
Starting from September 20, Sunday school for children begins. At 1:00 PM – in Latvian; at 3:00 PM – in Russian, where children receive essential knowledge about God and the foundations of virtue to prepare for their first Holy Communion!
At 1:00 PM, the organist Inese Circene leads children’s choir lessons. Children and their parents practice psalms and hymns to sing together during the Holy Mass.
At 2:00 PM, the Holy Mass for children begins:
- The lower altar is brought closer to the children;
- During the Holy Mass, the priest explains the basics of the Christian religion in a way that children can understand;
- The children themselves read the readings, sing psalms and hymns, pray, and receive the Eucharist. If necessary, they also go to confession.
The Holy Mass is led by the parish priest, Māris Zviedrs. Confession is heard by Cardinal Jānis Pujats or the vicar.
